The Start of the Final Week of the Asbury Park Summer Series

The Liberty Natural Gas Asbury Summer Series concluded with new winners again.  In the 3 Mile race Luciano Deoliviera shown finishing on the left  in a time of 15:41 was the men's winner and for the women it was Ajee Wilson shown finishing on the right in a time of 18:08.

In the mile race for 14 and under it was Sammy Lucid in 6:20 and for the girls it was Kelly Campbell in 6:35.  All the competitors in the half mile and mile were treated to ice cream courtesy of Liberty Natural Gas and received medals.

In the challenge between thee summer series of Wall, Freehold, Lake Tak and Ocean - the Wall Series swept to a win with a total of 102 points followed by Lake Tak with 45, Ocean with 22 and Freehold with 7.  All the runners were treated to a free beer or soft drink courtesy of Liberty Natural Gas after the event to celebrate the end of the summer series season.

Volunteer Info

Saturday - Saturday in the Park - Set Up Volunteers should be at the front gate of the park by 6:45 AM - we drive around to the rear entrance together.  The front gate does not open until 7:45 Am so we do not have much time to set up. 

On Monday - Pier Village 5K - Volunteers should report around 7 AM to the Boardwalk in Pier Village near the Pier House Restuarant.

The Start of Last Year's Pier Village 5K

Get ready for a spectacular Labor Day Weekend of running at the Jersey Shore and a great way to wrap up a fantastic summer season.

On Saturday, August 30th its the Annual Saturday in the Park All Women's Race to be held in Holmdel Park.  Its the largest all women's races in the state and attracts a diverse field of women runners of all abilities to tackle the hills of Holmdel Park. Men are always welcome to come out to volunteer or cheer on the women.

On Monday, September 1st its the Grand Finale of the Jersey Shore Golden Grand Prix to be held at Pier Village in Long Branch.  The 5K race wraps up the Series of Five Premiere Events at the Jersey Shore to include: Spring Lake Five, Belmar 5, Asbury Park 5K and Sheehan Classic.  Runners should check their point standings on the Jersey Shore Golden Grand Prix Web Site.  Awards will be presented after the Pier Village Race so don't miss out.

The Start of Week 2 of the Liberty Natural Gas Asbury Park Summer Series

Week 2 of the Liberty Natural Gas Asbury Park Summer Series brought new winners all around.  In the One Mile Youth Race it was Brandon Parrato in a time of 6:43.  And for the girls and also the overall winner it was Brianna Wilson in a time of 6:32.

In the 3 Mile open race it was Dave DeMonico in a time of 15:54 and for the women it was Emily McMillan in a time of 18:35.

Club Collects 100 Plus Pair of Shoes

At the last club meeting over 100 pair of shoes were collected to be redistributed to those in need.

Bradley Beach

Another great turn out of about 800 runners for the Annual Bradley Beach 5K on a beautiful morning for a race at the Jersey Shore with temperatures in the lower 70's and a nice ocean breeze to cool the runners as they wound their way along Ocean Avenue and the streets of this sea shore town.

In the men's race the overall winner was Chris Horel of Belford shown on the left in a time of 16:06.  For the women it was Katie Conner of Rumson in a time of 19:06 shown breaking the tape on the right.

Among the many JSRC finishers were:

Club Meeting and Barbecue

Thursday August 21 - Deal Fire House - 7:15 PM

ThHe next Club Meeting we will be having our annual Barbecue at the Deal Fire House at about 7 PM.  So mark the date - Thursday, August 21st at 7 PM.  We'll have plenty of refreshments - if you want bring a plate of your favorite dish.

We will also be having our annual "Old Shoe" day.  Bring in your old running shoes so they can be recycled to those in need or just recycled into something new.

The Start of Week 1 of the Liberty Natural Gas Asbury Park Summer Series

The first week of the Liberty Natural Gas Asbury Park Summer Series kicked off with great weather for the crowd of runners who ran along the beautiful boardwalk in the City by the Sea. It was an exciting course with plenty of spectators, several bands along the course and lots of activity on the Boardwalk.

In the feature 3 mile race the winners were Jeremy Pilkington in 16:35 and Ali Belecose in 18:30.Awards were presented to all the winners by Cortland Coleman of Liberty Natural Gas and the overall winners received gift certificate courtesy of Liberty Natural Gas from Brielle Bike Shop.  Winners will receive the gift certificates each week with a bonus if they win every week of the series.

In the Half Mile it was Grace Selvin in 3:29 for the Girls and Anthony Paun in 3:21 for the Boys.  In the One Mile it was Mendel Lahens in 6:15for the Boy's and Kelly Campbell in 6:41 for the Girls.  All the Kid's were treated to Ice Cream courtesy of Liberty Natural Gas after their respective races..

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out!

The series continues next Tuesday with the Youth Half Mile, Mile and Open 3 Miler.

Tuesday, August  19, 26, Youth Races 1/2 Mile and 1 Mile at 6:30 PM, 3 Mile Open at 7 PM, JSRC - Liberty Natural Gas -  Asbury Summer Series, Asbury Park, NJ - Giant Challenge Event on the last night between Wall - Asbury, Lake Tak, Freehold, and Ocean.

Registration will be at the Wonder Bar across from Convention Hall.  

Swim then Run - A group will be meeting at 6 PM at Convention Hall to do a half hour or so ocean swim and then do the race.  Contact is Mike Washakowski.

Chicago Marathon Invite
