Beginner's Running Classes will starting in September. Great way to get your non running friends started in running. Goal is to be able to run a local 5K race this fall. The fall is a perfect time to get started with the cooler weather (we really need that) and plenty of events scheduled.
We
could use some volunteers for the Boardwalk Races Against Hunger which will
benefit the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean County on Saturday, September 25th in
Asbury Park.
We could also use a few key people to participate in the event committee which would entail attending one or two planning meetings. If interested email jsrc@hotmail.com. We tentatively are planning to have a committee meeting on Monday, September 13th at the Foodbank on Rt 66 in Neptune..
And don't forget if you plan to run to register either a team in the 15k relay or as an individual in either the 5k, 10k or 15k. It will be a running festival in Asbury Park with a great post race party at the Wonder Bar featuring Golden Seal on stage with beer and lots of food.. Info at the event web site.
And
as usual all are invited to the Club's regular Sunday Run - distances ranging
from 6 miles to 22 miles - always a good turnout with all paces and abilities
represented. Water stops along the way and post run refreshments. Its an
awesome area to run on the back roads of the Navesink on tree lined dirt
roads. Check
out the photo show of the route.

Hunger
Action Month (September), led by Feeding America, is the nationwide effort to
mobilize the public in the fight against hunger in America. Hunger Action Month,
formed to help those in need, bloomed from a day of service into a month-long

assistance has increased. Through collaboration between Feeding America's
national office, their network of 205 food banks , corporate sponsors and
engagement of celebrities, Feeding America aims to raise awareness this
September to help the 36 million Americans who struggle with hunger through the
universal message "Give a Little, Feed a Lot."
